Nigeria’s U20 male team, the Flying Eagles, and the U20 female team, the Falconets, are set to resume training in Abuja on Thursday as they gear up for the 13th African Games in Accra, Ghana next month.
Head Coach Isah Ladan Bosso has called up 30 players to the Flying Eagles’ camp, from which the final squad will be selected to represent Nigeria in the men’s football event.
Nigeria is aiming to improve its silver medal performance at the last edition of the Games in Rabat, Morocco in 2019. Bosso previously led the U20 boys to the quarter-finals of the FIFA U20 World Cup finals in Argentina.
Meanwhile, Falconets’ Head Coach Chris Musa Danjuma, who guided his team to the quarter-finals of the 2022 World Cup and secured a spot in this year’s FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia, has invited 23 players to the camp.
Both the men’s and women’s teams have been instructed to report at the Agete Luxury Hotel in Gwarinpa Estate, Abuja on Thursday, 15th February 2024.
In the group stage of the 13th African Games, Nigeria’s Flying Eagles will face Uganda, South Sudan, Senegal, and Tunisia, while the Falconets will compete against Morocco, Senegal, and Cameroon.
