Nigerian Afrobeats singer, Teniola Apata aka Teni Makanaki, has been left to count her losses over N3 million she parted with as a result of a bet placed on Super Eagles of Nigeria to beat the Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire in the Finals of African Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.
Apata was seen sobbing and crying in a video she posted on social media over the loss.
Super Eagles lost to Cote d’Ivoire by 1 goal to 2 in the finals of AFCON recently concluded in Abidjan.
The songwriter, who was said to be a die-hard supporter of the Super Eagles, felt dejected and crestfallen after seeing the Super Eagles falling to Cote d’Ivoire.
With a torrent of tears flowing down her face, she expressed that she could not bear the pain any longer, thereby calling for solace.
She had previously cried out to Victor Osimhen and his teammates to avenge the loss suffered by Davido, Burna Boy, Ayra Starr, Asake, and others at Grammy Awards, when Super Eagles squared up against Bafana Bafana in the Quarterfinals of the tournament.
It could be recalled that the Nigerian team defeated Bafana Bafana of South Africa in a pulsating match that kept supporters of both teams at the edge of their seats.
Meanwhile, Super Eagles, who had dreamt of bringing the coveted AFCON trophy home lost in the finals of the tournament to the superior fire-power of Elephants of Ivory Coast.
