Now that Ounje Eko, Food Begins
It was with great enthusiasm that Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu recently announced the launch of ‘Ounje Eko’ food markets.
This announcement has gladdened the minds of Lagosians that food items will be sold at discounted prices across the State, beginning from Sunday, March 17, 2024.
This is a move by the State Government to alleviate poverty in the state and bring succour to the people.
This initiative was announced through the official Lagos State government X handle (formerly Twitter) on Friday night, targeted at alleviating the food crisis and rising food prices in the country.
With this in place, it is believed that people will start to say ‘Ebi o pawa mo ooo,’ (No more hunger) as under the initiative, staple food items including rice, beans, gari, bread, eggs, tomatoes, and pepper will be available at 25% discounted prices at the ‘Ounje Eko’ Food Markets.
The market will open from 11 am to 4 pm in all local government areas (LGAs) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) across the State.
Mixed Feelings as Schools Begin Exam in Lagos, Ogun States
There is mixed feeling between the school proprietors/proprietress and the parents as schools across the two states begin their examinations for the second term this week.
Though some schools started their examinations last week, others will start this week.
Why the mixed feelings then? The start of examinations by schools means the end of the term, so, it means that parents and guardians need to start looking for funds to pay school fees for the next term.
Already, some parents surprised at how this term runs quickly and the sudden examination. Already, many are complaining about the next term’s school fees in the face of the present hardship and the attendant skyrocketing prices of food items. To them, it’s a hard time to live.
However, it’s a thing of delight for school owners that the term should end quickly and rake more money into the purse of the schools as the third term begins.
The understanding is that whether parents like it or not, they must pay next term’s school fees for their wards on time, as no parents will risk not allowing their wards to have a sound education despite hardship.
We only seek a common ground for understanding on the part of the school owners and parents.
All will be well!

When Femi Adebayo Slapped Dad
He couldn’t have done it if not for a movie that demanded it. Even after he had done it, he prostrated to his dad to ask for forgiveness immediately the director said he should stop.
It was the day that acting made Femi Adebayo do a the terrible thing-slapping his father Adebayo Salami aka Oga Bello on set.
He stated, “I have been presented with scripts where I had to slap my father on set and I must do it as an actor…the moment we are acting, I don’t see him as my father anymore, I see him as a colleague and we need to interpret our roles very well.”
