Postponed!
This is not the best of time for students who have been waiting patiently to secure Federal government loans to augment their expenses as the executive secretary of the Nigerian Student Loans Scheme, Akintunde Sawyer has announced the postponement of the launch of the loan scheme indefinitely.
Unfortunately, this is the height of unpreparedness on the part of the government as feelers indicate that the scheme will not start anytime soon. What a mess!
Good luck to Nigerian students who have endured more than enough stress including incessant strikes, dilapidated infrastructure, high cost of living, and now the postponement of the proposed student loan.
Best of luck great Nigerian student!
It’s UNILAG’s Time
Here is to invite the students of the University of Lagos to have a date with Pelumi Nubi for the entrepreneurship and skill development programme on Saturday, March 23, 2024.
What a great month of March!
Pelumi is changing the narratives for so many countries she has passed through. One of her messages is that human kindness remains the most powerful currency.
Pelumi’s story is inspiring. She will inspire all UNILAG students and youths across the world to learn from her uniqueness, positivity, ingenuity, and can-do spirit.
This is the period to lift one’s spirit by listening to those who have passed through the hurdles and triumphed.
Change your world by changing the narrative!
Who’s Next?
Ever since Jose Peseiro left as the coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria after their great outing at the 2024 African Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire, the tables of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, have been filled up with applications from coaches trying to be the next handler of the Super Eagles.
Feeler from the Glass House has it that three coaches including Emmanuel Amunike, Sunday Olise, and Finidi George are leading the pack of individuals being touted for the next job.
Interestingly what matters to football ‘crazy’ Nigerians is good results. To them, whether Finidi, Amunike, or Olise, Eagles should be superb and command respect in Africa and the world.
Unfortunately, NFF is being frightened by court cases instituted against it by aggrieved individuals.
Where do we go from here when the employer is not recognized by the court of the land?
‘Nigerians Mocked Me for Losing a Match’
Deep down in his heart, Anthony Joshua, the Heavyweight Champion, was pained that his countrymen made a mockery of him when he lost his heavyweight boxing belt by split decision to Oleksandr Usyk of Ukraine.
The pain was so heavy that when he won his last bout against Francis Ngannou of Cameroon, a UFC champion recently, he recognized Britain, and Cameroon, but left out Nigeria in his words of praise.
Joshua counseled that Nigerians should learn how to show love to those losing, not only those winning, saying when someone is falling, hold them; don’t wait to make a mockery of them. He however said that Nigerians are his people and that he still loves them.
FUOYE Bans Students’ Vehicles on Campus
The Management of Federal University Oye Ekiti has wielded a big stick by banning students from using vehicles on campus.
The decision was reached as a result of reckless driving by students which has resulted in avoidable accidents, including the loss of lives.
By this decision, the Chief Security Officer of the institution has been directed not to allow students to bring their vehicles to the campus.
