The Lagos State Police Command has pledged to enhance security at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) to ensure the safety of lives and the protection of the institution’s assets both on and off campus.
This promise was made during a courtesy visit by the University’s Management, led by Vice-Chancellor Professor Folasade Ogunsola, to the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters in Ikeja GRA, Lagos.
Police Commissioner Adegoke Mustapha Fayoade promised to increase police presence and activities in and around UNILAG’s neighboring communities to eliminate miscreants and combat criminal tendencies, reducing them to a minimum in the shortest possible time.
Professor Ogunsola expressed appreciation for the police efforts and requested increased surveillance, particularly along the Lagoon front, to prevent burglary incidents through the UNILAG waterfront.
She emphasized the institution’s zero tolerance for illicit drugs and substances and committed to working with the Nigerian Police to ensure a hitch-free return of students’ union activities on campus.
The university also plans to have high-ranking police officers as faculty members, especially in the Law and Social Sciences faculties.
