The Nigeria Women’s Football League has officially changed the date for the highly anticipated commencement of the 2023/24 NWFL Premiership season, featuring a clash between Ekiti Queens and Delta Queens in Ado Ekiti.
Initially set for Wednesday, November 15, the opening day of the season has been rescheduled to Tuesday, November 14. The season opener, designated as the Star Match of Matchday One fixtures, will unfold at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium in Ado Ekiti.
The President of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Gusau, will grace the occasion with his presence, demonstrating support for the sustained progress of women’s football. He has conveyed a profound interest in the league’s advancements and commends the strides achieved in revitalizing the Women’s League under the leadership of Ms Nkechi Obi and the current board of the NWFL. The decision to alter the date aims to ensure broader participation from key stakeholders, fans, and the entire football community, enhancing the celebration of women’s football excellence.
All other fixtures scheduled for Week One in the Nigeria Women’s Football League Premiership will proceed as planned. The NWFL eagerly anticipates an electrifying #NWFL24 season and expresses gratitude for the continuous support from fans and partners.
