Strategic partners of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), GTI Asset Management and Trust Limited, have expressed their satisfaction with the strong support and competitive spirit demonstrated by the clubs participating in the NPFL 2023/2024 season. They also extended their appreciation to the media for their professional coverage of the league, which saw a successful kick-off on September 30.
Andrew Ekejiuba, the Head of Media and Publicity for GTI, based in Lagos, praised the clubs for embracing GTI’s vision of promoting the business aspects of the game in all of their activities.
“We believe that the well-thought-out plans of the Nigeria Premier League Board will come to fruition, thanks to the extensive coverage the NPFL has received,” Ekejiuba remarked.
Ekejiuba continued, “With the initial grant of N10 million provided to each of the 20 clubs by GTI for this season and the numerous other deals secured by these clubs, we can clearly see their remarkable start, which is consistently reflected in the results of Matchdays.”
“It is noteworthy that home teams have upped their game, as no losses have been recorded so far. The worst-case scenarios are two draws by visiting teams during Matchday 1 and Matchday 2, respectively.”
He also pointed out, “The 2-0 victory by Gombe United over Enyimba International in Gombe during Matchday 2 demonstrates that there is no significant gap between the so-called big teams and the smaller ones this season. As a result, the N150 million prize money for the season’s winning team, courtesy of GTI, is anticipated to be hotly contested.”
Ekejiuba, a respected sports journalist and author, commended the clubs for their diligent efforts to secure shirt sponsorships and other financial support, helping them maintain stability throughout the season.
“The determination shown by clubs like Rangers, Sporting Lagos, Remo Stars, Bendel Insurance, and others in securing sponsorships before this season is highly commendable. It also indicates that these clubs are gradually aligning with GTI’s vision of running clubs as bona fide business enterprises.”
“We, therefore, call upon the clubs and match officials to maintain this momentum as we continue our partnership with Hon Gbenga Elegbeleye’s NPL Board to deliver a seamless league to our beloved country.”
“GTI, as a strategic partner to the NPFL, is leaving no stone unturned to lay a solid foundation for the league’s growth in the country. We firmly believe that, as the NPFL develops and evolves, it will rank among the best leagues in Africa within the next few seasons.”
“The enhanced visibility of the elite league, thanks to the weekly live-streaming of matches on the Over-The-Top (OTT) platform, is a positive step forward, and our broadcast partner Propel Sports Africa deserves commendation for this innovative approach, which widens the NPFL’s reach to local and global audiences.”
Ekejiuba concluded, “The introduction of The Nigeria Football Fund (TNFF) by GTI has significantly improved the NPFL’s financial stability, making funding for our elite league no longer an issue. The clubs, football associations, match officials, and NPFL staff can attest to the tremendous support and attention provided by GTI in this regard.”
“It’s also worth noting that the initial cost of N1 per unit for TNFF at its launch has appreciated to N1.23 per unit, indicating a promising future for the growth of the Fund. Therefore, we once again call on Corporate Nigeria and individuals who have a passion for our beautiful game to invest in TNFF.”
