A past student of Orimolade Commercial Grammar School Ikirun, Osun State (OCGS) Class of 1991 has donated a ceiling to cover the school library to mark his 50th birthday.
This act of generosity is part of the “Adopt a Class” initiative, which aims to improve the school facilities and support its students.
The donor, recognizing the impact of meaningful contributions over fleeting birthday celebrations, chose to make a lasting difference by enhancing the learning environment for current and future students.
Under the coordination of Lara Awe, the Class of 1991 has raised over 1.1 million Naira to support OCGS, demonstrating the power of collective giving.
The initiative encourages other alumni to commemorate their birthdays or milestones by giving back to their alma mater, emphasizing that no contribution is too small.
As the saying goes, “Life is not about duration but donation,” and donors are invited to leave their mark on the school’s history by supporting its growth and development.

Hues and Cries over UI’s Virtual Classes
The planned virtual classes and matriculation adopted by the authority of the University of Ibadan are generating brouhaha as some new students are not favourably disposed towards it.
Many students have raised concern over the proposed virtual matriculation, where Obembe Olakunle, a newly admitted student was worried that it was only his set that would not be wearing matric gowns, while Jeffery Olusola viewed the development as confusing.

But the student union leadership had waded in, meeting with the school authority to look into the matter.
Meanwhile, it was agreed during the meeting that arrangements be made for new students to have access to gowns when they resume physically, to have matriculation experience.
The University of Ibadan had also published its academic calendar for both new and old students for the next academic session, preferring that the matriculation ceremony be conducted virtually, as well as some other lectures.
The newly admitted students will be undergoing six weeks of virtual lectures before the resumption of 11 weeks of physical lectures.
