Spain to Establish Presence at UNILAG
The Spanish Ambassador to Nigeria, His Excellency Juan Ignacio Sell, has announced Spain’s intention to establish a notable presence at the University of Lagos (UNILAG). This announcement was made during his courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS, on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at her office in the Senate House.
During his visit, Ambassador Sell expressed admiration for UNILAG as a leading tertiary institution in Africa and for Nigeria overall. He discussed potential collaborations between Spain and the university, including the introduction of a Spanish Language degree program to enhance the existing European language offerings in the curriculum.

Butswat Monitors PoP Exam at NSCDC Centre
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Prof. Isaac Butswat has visited the Special Study Centre for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Sauka, Abuja, to monitor the Pen-on-Paper (PoP) examination.
The DVCโs visit to the Centre recently was to observe, monitor, and have first-hand information on the 2024_1 POP examination, the effectiveness, challenges, and areas of improvement and to ensure the integrity of the process.

Professor Marks 60th Birthday with Foundation for Less Privileged Students
Professor Mike Adebamowo, an esteemed Architecture professor at the University of Lagos, celebrated his 60th birthday by launching the Professor Mike Adebamowo Foundation (PMAF).

This initiative aims to support academically gifted but financially disadvantaged university students.
As the Executive Director of UNILAG Business School, Professor Adebamowo attributed his decision to establish the foundation to his recognition of divine grace throughout his life. He emphasized that the foundation’s goal is to ensure that no student is hindered or delayed due to financial constraints.
Additionally, the foundation will provide mentorship to help students develop their character and contribute to building a better society.
