Tuface Idibia (2Baba) has given recognition to Remedies and Kennis Music for pioneering the Nigerian music industry of today. The singer expressed recently that the Nigeria music industry of today would not have been this big without Remedies, adding that Nigerians were only singing Reggae by Ras Kimono, Mandators, Evi Edna, and Orits Wiliki among others.
“Or we were singing highlife (Oliver De Coque, Bright Chimeze, etc) or Juju Music ( Sir Shona Peters, Pasuma Wonder, Kolinton, Barrister, Salawa Abeni, etc),” he continued.
“These were Nigerian kinds of music, and then we listened to American Hip-hop, Rap, RnB, etc. But all kudos to KENNIS Music and Remedies, for daring into the Nigerian hip-hop that was widely accepted by Nigerians. Then Plantation Boys copy suit,” said the legend.
“… without Idris Abdulkareem, Eddie Remedy, and Tony Tetuila, there would not have been the Nigerian music industry of today. Give honour to whom honour is due,” 2 Face pointed out.
The controversy over who pioneered the Afrobeats genre of Nigerian music has raged over time, putting Burna Boy, Rudeboy, and Jaywon on the warpath, as each engages in diatribe with their senior colleague, Eedris Abdulkareem.
Eedris had always emphasised that he, Eddie Remedy, and Tony Tetuila were the pioneers of Afrobeats, before 2 Face Idibia, Faze, and Blackface formed Plantation Boys.
