The Afrobeats singer, Yemi Alade, has encouraged her fans to prioritize her music over her romantic life. During a recent interview, she politely declined to discuss her relationship status, stating, “I’d like people to focus on what I’m willing to share – my music.”
Alade also discussed the competitive Nigerian music industry, acknowledging its challenges but expressing her resilience. “Tough times don’t last, but tough people do. The strongest will always survive,” she said.
Regarding her upcoming album, ‘Rebel Queen,’ Alade described its composition, message, and content as a blend of femininity, style, dance, motivation, liberation, and consciousness.
Drawing inspiration from her African pop music roots, she aimed to create a unique and nostalgic album that cuts across generations and boundaries.
“I’ve always charted my own course and walked the path less travelled,” Alade said, emphasizing her desire to stand out from monotonous genres and styles.
“Each song on ‘Rebel Queen’ is a capsule of my thoughts and melodies, with something new, old, and borrowed.”
