The queen of Afrojazz, Yemi Alade, has declared that she’s on the same level as Davido, Burna Boy, and Wizkid, known as the Big-3.
The gifted diva expressed this opinion on her social media page, adding that, “The Nigerian music industry always stays afloat because we’re all trying to be the 001 and the truth is there is no 001.”
“The top-5 artists that are biggest in Africa can shut down the same crowd. The same capacity that Wizkid holds down in Africa, I hold it down. The same capacity that Burna Boy holds down in Africa, I hold it down,” she stated.
“Give us the same venues, and we’ll all shut it down. So there is no 001, and that’s the truth, but not everybody will agree to that,” said Yemi Alade.
The singer put up a scintillating performance during the opening ceremony of the recently concluded African Cup of Nations (AFCON) held in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire.
A songwriter, actress, and activist, Yemi Alade’s song is a mixture of Afropop, highlife, dancehall, pop, and R&B, which has been of tremendous influence in several countries across Africa.
