Established in 2005 by the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) and located just 26 kilometers away from the Federal Capital City, Abuja, Bingham University was founded with a clear mission to rekindle the golden age of high-quality, morally sound mission education, extending up to the tertiary level. The university’s vision, endorsed by ECWA leaders and academics of ECWA extraction, was to create a secular educational institution firmly grounded in moral values as dictated by the Christian faith.
Acknowledging the importance of the technological advancements of the 19th and 20th centuries, Bingham University is committed to evolving into a technology-driven institution of the 21st century.
Bingham University places a strong emphasis on entrepreneurial education, aiming to equip its graduates with the skills and mindset needed for self-reliance. Presently, the university offers a total of 64 undergraduate and postgraduate programs spanning 12 faculties.
Since its inception, Bingham University has experienced steady growth, with a current student population exceeding 6,000. The institution takes pride in having produced approximately 5,000 graduates who have gone on to make significant contributions in the Nigerian labor market and on the global stage.
Over the years, Bingham University has been led by four Vice Chancellors, each contributing to the institution’s development. The pioneer Vice Chancellor, Professor Aaron Gana, served from 2005 to 2006. He was succeeded by Professor Felix I. Anjorin, who served from 2007 to 2013.
Professor Leonard Kursim Fwa took over as the third Vice Chancellor, serving from 2013 to 2017, and Professor William Barnabas Qurix has been serving as the fourth Vice Chancellor since 2018, leading the institution into the present and beyond.
