Head Coach Chris Musa Danjuma has unveiled the roster for the upcoming FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup final qualifying fixture between Nigeria’s Falconets and Burundi’s U20 girls in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
The match is set to take place on Sunday, with the first leg encounter featuring a lineup that includes Captain Oluchi Ohaegbulem, goalkeeper Faith Omilana, defender Shukurat Oladipo, and midfielder Taiwo Afolabi.
Among the selected 19 players are key contributors like goalkeeper Shukura Bakare, who played a pivotal role in the Falconets’ 2-1 victory against Tanzania in the first round, securing their spot in the final stage. The squad also features defenders Jumoke Alani and Oluwabunmi Oladeji, midfielders Adoo Yina and Chima Olise, as well as forwards Chiamaka Okwuchukwu, Janet Akekoromowei, Yemisi Samuel, and Opeyemi Ajakaye.
The Nigerian team, having reached the quarter-finals of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, is scheduled to depart for Tanzania on Tuesday for the first-leg encounter. Nonjabulo Nonhle Ndlela from South Africa has been appointed as the referee, with Maneo Evodia Tau and Nandipha Menze as assistant referees, and Nteboheleng Theresia Setoko as the fourth official.
The Azam Stadium Complex in Dar es Salaam will host the match, with Somoe Robert Ng’itu serving as the commissioner and Fransiska Katjaimo from Namibia as the referee assessor. The return leg is scheduled to take place at the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja on Saturday, 20th January.
