The former Nigerian Football Federation President (NFF), Amaju Pinnick, and Afrobeats singer, David Adedeji Adeleke aka Davido, have agreed to settle their disagreement out-of-court.
The two warring parties agreed to a win-win deal in an alleged breach of contract regarding the failure of Davido to perform at the 19th edition of ‘Warri Again Concert.’
The agreement was approved by a Delta High Court which convened in Effurun and presided over by the High Court Three Judge, Justice Michael Obi, who commended both parties on Thursday for their decisions to resolve the matter amicably through an out-of-court settlement.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Brownhill Investment Limited, owned by Pinnick, had initiated a legal action against Davido and his music label, Davido Music Worldwide Limited, before the court as joint defendants for an alleged breach of contract on their failure to perform at the 19th Edition of ‘Warri Again Concert.’
For failure to fulfill the contract for the concert, the appellant sought a sum of N2 billion as general damages from the defendant, and in addition, Pinnick’s company requested N150 million for legal action and professional fees, as well as an additional N30 million for filing costs.
Counsel to defendants, Oladayo Ogungbe, informed NAN that as part of the settlement, Davido would be going to Warri on October 4, 2024, to perform, “which is better than going through the rigours of litigation,” Ogungbe said.
“Both parties considered the option of having the matter settled out-of-court, which in my opinion as a lawyer, is the best approach to any litigation. It’s a win-win situation for both parties,” expressed Ogungbe.
