The face-off involving David Adedeji Adeleke aka Davido, Ayodeji Balogun aka Wizkid and Michael Collins Ajereh aka Don Jazzy is not subsiding, instead, it is getting messier every moment.
The rift has become so contagious, so much so, that the fans of all three Afrobeats stars are torn apart as they take sides.
The dispute sparked a heated argument recently among young Nigerians in a tertiary institution who preferred to side with their favourite musician among the three.
The said students, numbering up to ten who were captured on camera, engaged in an explosive argument that almost degenerated into fisticuff over the recent clash between Davido and Wizkid.
Besides, social media is embroiled in arguments among commentators as they throw diatribes at one another in a bid to defend their preferred singer.
It was even said that the clash between Davido and Wizkid severed a relationship between a lady and her boyfriend who became angry because she sensed her boyfriend was becoming obsessed with Wizkid.
The lady was said not to take kindly to her boyfriend referring to Wizkid as his popsy when he has a father at home.
As part of the lady’s grouse, she didn’t like how her boyfriend used to obstruct their discussions with topics about Wizkid.
The lady wrote in her text message made available thus, “I just broke up with my boyfriend or I should say X now I pray I don’t go back to him…since morning he has been posting Wizkid up and down with caption popsy meanwhile he has a father…if we’re having serious conversation he will just cut in and say he…wants to be like his popsy…”
Away from this, other musicians, are also cut in the web of the altercation over Wizkid’s alleged disrespectful statement to Don Jazzy, as another famous Nigerian singer, Oritsefemi, expressed his opinion that nothing was wrong in Wizkid calling Don Jazzy an influencer.
“If someone called you an influencer it means you are well known and have a unique skill in you that others don’t have and that makes them run to you so you can influence them with it…I see nothing wrong if someone calls you an influencer.
Wizkid referred to Don Jazzi as an influencer in reaction to Ladipoe’s statement. Ladipoe, a signee of the latter, mocked Wizkid over his statement, “Hip hop is dead.”
Meanwhile, both Davido and Wizkid were at loggerheads, having a hot argument on X recently despite settling for a truce in December 2023 after a protracted strife.
Wizkid was said to have fired the first salvo, posting a video of Davido, crying and begging an alleged female associate.
However, Davido fired back, describing Wizkid’s musical career as dead, calling him “solo short, bitch,” and a 4-foot guy, meaning Wizkid is short.
