His fame has drastically declined. His influence among the youths and Nigerian entertainment industry crumbling, as his habitation becoming desolate. The world of Azeez Adeshina Fashola, aka Naira Marley, is crashing right in his very own eyes, gradually descending the ladder of stardom to the warm embrace of rejection, oblivion.
As a result of an allegation of hounding Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Alabo, aka Mohbad to death, he has murdered rest, as several allegations of wrongdoings and misdeeds, which have been swept under the carpet because of arrogation of lord of the manor to himself, are flying from every nook and cranny of the country. Marley has definitely bitten off more than he can chew, and fast going from grace to grass.
In one fell swoop, he lost over 900,000 followers on Instagram alone, and they are still declining to a miserably low number. Of recent, the Management of Splash FM radio has placed a ban on playing Marley’s music on its station.
A privately owned radio station, Fresh FM 106.9, Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State has banned playing Marley’s songs. Voice FM 89.9 in Ado Ekiti and NewCrush FM 92.6 in Ikere Ekiti, all in Ekiti State, have all banned playing his songs. A radio station in Ibadan, Oyo State, Agidigbo FM radio, has ban all the songs from his record.
As if all these were not enough, show promoters have also decided to exclude him from upcoming events, as about 47,000 Nigerians so far have signed petition to ban his music, as it’s being reported that he is in the net of the police.
Nigerians just want justice dispensed in the case of Mohbad, and all over the social media platforms the youths are crying, jeering, talking, revolting and asking questions regarding the death of Mohbad.
Marley, who captured almost all the entire population of the youths in Nigeria that approved of his hideous, immoral and despicable attitude and culture, have turned against him all of a sudden.
The youths who loved him, craved his music, and imbibed his philosophy of no pants, no bra, and no belt are discarding him. Were they not aware of all of his misdemeanours when they bought and keyed into his ‘Marlian’ Philosophy?
Didn’t they know that he was bullying some of them? Didn’t they know that he was a bad role model? They embraced his music of no enviable lyrics, hailed him and formed his multitudinous fan base called ‘Marlians.’
They have always known him for all of these, yet there was no public outcry. They have known him to run an alleged drug syndicate, allegedly using some of them as couriers, but they did not complain, now he has hounded one of them to death, and there is protest all over.
For Marley, this may probably signifies the end of an era replete in alleged drug syndication. He may be proved wrong in thinking that wealth buys all things, for Marley is said to be stinking rich, priding himself in owning lands and properties in choice areas of Lagos. Behind Whizkid, Davido and Burnaboy, comes Marley, whose networth, according to an unofficial source, is estimated at around N241 million.
He was once Coca-Cola Brand Ambassador in 2014 until he lost the endorsement when Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested him. Are we witnessing an end to Marley’s era? We wait and see as he sinks down and down.
