Sales of Mushrooms Begins at FUNAAB
If you’re a mushroom enthusiast, the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) in Ogun State is your new go-to destination. The Mushroom Unit at FUNAAB has launched the sale of fresh mushrooms, aiming to promote sustainable nutrition and environmental awareness.
Oyster mushrooms, celebrated for their delicate yet savory flavour, are rich in protein, low in calories, and packed with essential vitamins and minerals, making them a nutritional powerhouse.
Dr. Idayat Atayese from the Department of Microbiology, College of Biosciences (COLBIOS), is leading this initiative. She emphasized the longstanding human appreciation for edible mushrooms, highlighting their culinary appeal and numerous health benefits.
UNILORITES Applaud Transporters on Campus
Operators of commercial transport serving the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) route have been applauded for their understanding and reasonable fare charges amidst the ongoing petrol scarcity in the country.
This praise was given recently by Dr. Mohammed Kabiru Garba, the Sub-Dean of Student Affairs (Male), during his inspection at the University Motor Park.
Dr. Garba expressed that the university management is pleased that, despite the severe fuel shortage, UNILORIN transporters have implemented only a slight increase in transport fares. He also noted that the fare charged by motorcycle operators on campus has remained stable.
Don Receives Service Excellence Award
Dr. Theresa Ucheoma Ettu, the Director of the Port Harcourt Study Centre at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) in Rivers State, has been honoured with an Award of Excellence by the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Port Harcourt. The award ceremony took place on Saturday, April 27, 2024.
The organizers stated that the award was bestowed upon selected leaders whose contributions have significantly benefited the people of Rivers State, and so it was the time of Dr. Ettu.
