Unilag Engages Parents
The Lagos State University has deemed it fit to engage the parents as the university authority organizes an orientation programme for the students in what looks like the highest form of the Parents Teachersโ Association, PTA.
This used to be in primary and secondary schools but has found itself at the university level where parents are being invited by the university authority.
Interestingly, the Dean of, the Faculty of Science, Prof. Moses Akanbi urged the students newly admitted into different departments of the faculty (2023/2024) to strive to be innovative and inventive at the end of their 4 years course in the university.
Who knows if the dean does not forget to advise the parents to be good parents too.

Nigeria Opens Air and Land Borders
President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday directed the opening of Nigeriaโs land and air borders with the Republic of Niger.
Also, sanctions that Nigeria placed on the Republic of Niger and Guinea following the coups against democratically elected governments have been lifted by Nigeria.
It will be recalled that the government of Niger Republic recently banned any Nigerian aircraft from passing through its airspace which analysts say was to retaliate Nigeria’s stance against Niger.
Expectedly, business can now resume between the two countries, and millions of products hanging at the borders of the two countries can start coming in.

Epileptic power
The rate at which incessant power outages put Nigerians into darkness is alarming and frustrating.
There is the need to pity students living off campus who have to cope with the situation where the price of fuel is high and the electric power is epileptic.
From UNILAG to Uniport, Unical to Uthman Dan Fodio, it is all wailing on account of the difficult moments. For Adedeji Olawale, a student of material engineering, things have never been this difficult but we pray that things will turn around soon for the country.

Soldiers Invade UNILAG
Anyone would have thought that the University of Lagos was under siege when the delegation of officers from the Nigerian Army College of Nursing (NACON) led by Colonel Juliana O. Awuto came in their numbers to the institution.
But the visit was not about war. It was about expressing their gratitude to a University that supported NACON in its bid to run a Bachelor of Nursing degree programme following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with UNILAG.
While addressing their host, Colonel Awuto was full of praises for the institution, saying, “We are delighted to be associated with UNILAG,” as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Management Services) Professor Lucian Obinna Chukwu, who represented the Vice Chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, expressed delight at the partnership.
