Guinness World Records (GWR) has advised intending applicants to inform GWR before attempting to break or set a new record. GWR stated this on its website.
It will be recalled that two Nigerian Chefs Damilola Adeparusi known as Chef Dammy from Oye Ekiti and an Ondo State born Chef Adeyeye Adeola tried to no avail to break the recent GWR set by Chef Hilda Barci who broke the record of 87 hours 45 minutes and 100 seconds set by an India’s chef, Lafa Tondon.
Chef Hilda Barci set the new record of 93 hours 11 minutes Cook-A-Thon record to emerge Guinness World Records holder in Cook-A-Thon.
The most recent attempt by an Ondo State born Chef, Adeyeye Adeola, who started her Cook-A-Thon few days ago to break 93 hours 11 minutes Cook-A-Thon record set by Chef Hilda Barci, became an effort in futility after she flouted one of the rules of Guinness World Records guiding the Cook-A-Thon.
There was an allegation that Adeola who planned to cook continuously for 150 hours turned off the gas and ate out of the food she prepared.
One of the rules by Guinness Word Record guiding the Cook-A-Thon is that the chef must not turn off the gas while cooking.
