The popular Nollywood actress and influencer, Iyabo Ojo, has been allegedly sued by Colleague, Tosin Abiola aka Omo Brish, for claiming the sole ownership of a movie, ‘Under the Carpet.’
Ojo was also sued over allegedly going ahead to premiere the movie and not rendering the accounts of the revenue generated by the movie at the box office.
This was contained in the official Instagram of stelladimokokorkus who disclosed that Abiola, a UK-based movie producer is seeking an injunction from the Federal High Court of Lagos to stop Ojo from streaming the movie on IbakaTV App and Ibaka TV.com.
The court documents and affidavit deposed to by Alfred Temitayo Ogunti of the Law firm of Habeeb Iredola and Associates showed that the plaintiff and applicant (Abiola) conceptualized the idea of financing a movie to be produced in Nigeria and shared the idea with the defendant/respondent (Ojo) after which the parties agreed to the movie, ‘Under the Carpet.’
Meanwhile, the arrangement was that the applicant, as the Creator and financier of the movie, will be credited as the Executive Producer, while Ojo, will be named as the Producer of the movie.
But, Ojo, after the production of the movie, credited and represented herself as the Executive Producer and the Producer of the movie, thereby attributing the executive authorship, ownership and intellectual property rights in the movie to herself contrary to the agreement between the parties on co-ownership and attribution rights.
Also Ojo, without the full consent of Abiola, organized a premiere and subsequently released the movie to the cinemas.
Abiola was not credited as the Executive Producer, and Ojo did not render the accounts of the revenue generated by the movie at the box office to Abiola despite persistent demand.
