Nollywood actress, Kate Henshaw, has berated Federal Government over its inability to protect corps members from armed bandits, frowning at what she described as moribund measures at tackling insecurity which put the life of young people at risk.
The talented actress expressed the opinion on her social media page, reacting to the kidnapping of eight National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members in Zamfara State.
Henshaw stated that if government couldn’t protect corps members then the NYSC scheme should be scrapped.
In her words, “It’s time to scrap this idea since corpers can’t travel within this country without let or hindrance! Stop putting the lives of young people at risk with moribund ideas. security is a priority and need to be sorted totally not technically.
She expressed further, ” When I served in the North, it was a very memorable experience. Travelling from Bauchi by road to the airport was safe and then flying to Lagos just with my NYSC ID card, which also got me a rebate on my ticket.”
Eight members of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members were kidnapped by armed bandits along a highway within Zamfara State recently.
The bandits is demanding for N4 million to secure the release of the corps members.
Meanwhile, Nigerian Army and the Police have organised search for the eight abducted victims.
