The talented Nollywood actress, Toyin Abraham, has promised to lend a helping hand to an upcoming actress, Jemima Adelekan, who suffered rejection at a film audition recently.
Adelekan, after being denied a role because of her facial scar, sobbed uncontrollably at the derogatory words used by the film director who auditioned her.
The film director communicated the rejection to her through a WhatsApp message which Adelekan screenshot and shared on her Instagram page.
The demeaning message reads in part, “Hi, Adelekan, good morning. In response to your audition, we would have loved to bring you as you passed the character and nailed the role I must say but I’m sorry the character doesn’t have a scar and hence we can’t put you on.
“I wish your scar wasn’t there, you would have been our perfect pick. Have a great day. Best wishes,” the film director concluded.
However, Adelekan responded, writing on her Instagram thus, “I am tired of being strong and I’m just begging please if you don’t have nice words to say to me, let me be, especially to casting directorsโฆyou guys don’t know what I’ve been through and it’s only fair if you are nice with your comments.”
Posting the video where she was also weeping on her Instagram page, she wrote further that it did not mean that she was not good enough if she was not called up for an audition, nevertheless, the upcoming actress refused to be disgraced because of her scars.
Meanwhile, Abraham who released the video on her Instagram page, decried the treatment meted to Adelekan.
Abraham wrote, “It’s okay if you don’t have a role for her but shaming her is wrong @jemimalifestyle you are coming to the big screen this year, I love you so much and you are beautiful.”
