The University of Lagos Alumni, Lagos State Chapter, in its effort to give back to its Alma Mater, is set to commence a technological skill development for interested students of the University. The was made known yesterday during the launch of the programme which took place at Afe Babalola Hall.
The programme, according to Unilag General News, will focus on equipping participants with necessary skills to thrive in the fast growing tech industry.
170 participants have been shortlisted for the 12-week virtual training programme which include product Design, Data Analysis, Web Development, Graphic Design and Digital Marketing.
Speaking, the sponsor of the programme, Senator Ganiu Olanrewaju Solomon (GOS), an alumnus of the institution and one time Senator representing Lagos West Senatorial District at the Nigerian Senate urged the University to do more for its continuous development.
“The University must do more to approach thousands of its alumni in… good position to make contributions even beyond money,” said Senator Solomon, charging the participants to make the most of the training and ensure they emerge from it empowered.
The Chairman Lagos Branch of the Unilag Alumni Association, Mr. Owoeye-Adedeji Adeyemo, praised Senator Solomon for sponsoring the initiative, urging his colleagues to come support their Alma Mater.
Responding, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola said the initiative offers programme that are in-demand, saying their efforts is to keep the university’s staff and students abreast of career advancement and opportunities in digital age.
