A lecturer at Osun State University, Osogbo, Department of Public Health, Dr Iyanuoluwa Adufe, has won the Nigerian Malaria Modelling Fellowship (MMF). Confirming the selection of Dr. Adufe, the Osun State University Public Relations Officer, Ademola Adesoji, said in a statement on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, that Aduke’s academic talent and dedication to Public Health was extraordinary.
Commending Dr Adufe, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Ayo Clement Adebooye, attributed Her success to the University’s commitment to research development and problem-solving.
“Our University’s unparalleled track record in grant acquisition and fellowship in recent years reflects our dedication to research excellence,” said the VC.
He expressed that Dr Adufe’s accomplishment testified to the University’s unwavering commitment to advancing knowledge and addressing societal challenges.
Having disclosed that the University had been able to secure TETFUND and NRF grants, which enhanced the institution’s local and global visibility, Professor Adebooye congratulated Dr Adufe as he urged other researchers to continue their efforts in finding solutions to national and global issues.
The MMF is a collaborative initiative between the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), the Corona Management System (CMS), the National Malaria Elimination Programme (NMEP), the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC), and the World Health Organization (WHO).
The initiative aims to bolster the mathematical modeling capacity of public health professionals in Nigeria.
