All exceptional candidates who sat for the 2022 and 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination will be awarded scholarships by MTN Foundation (MTNF) in collaboration with the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board ( JAMB).
This was disclosed by the Executive Secretary of MTN Foundation, Mr. Odunayo Sanya when she visited the National Headquarters of the Board recently.
She disclosed that MTNF was interested in holding meaningful discussions with JAMB on the modality of shortlisting ten top deserving candidates based on its Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) for the 2022 and 2023 academic year respectively.
She said the MTNF scholarship was part of the youth development scheme of Telco, aiming to provide an annual platform recognizing and rewarding dedicated high-performing students across Nigerian public tertiary institutions.
She informed me that the Foundation had created three scholarship categories to cater to the needs of exceptional scholars ranging from MTN Science and Technology Scholarship (MTN STS), MTN for the Blind Students ( MTN SBS), and top 10 UTME Scholarships.
To be eligible for consideration under the scheme, a candidate must have a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.5.
She added that this edition of the programme promises to be different as Telcos had raised the award prize to N400,000.
Responding, the representative of the Registrar, who is the Director Test Administration Department, Mrs. Ville Pius, during the occasion said the Board was working on the request made and that any consequent action would be guided by the provision of the Data Protection Act.
He disclosed that the Board would communicate with the Foundation as soon as necessary approvals are secured.
