In its drive to harmonize information systems and create effective data management, a world-class data center has been handed over to the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN).
The facility was made possible by the African Centre of Excellence on Technology Enhanced Learning (ACETEL), headed by Professor Grace Jokthan, the Director of the Centre.
According to Ambrose Bernard Gowon, this was disclosed by Professor Jokthan at an interactive session with representatives of the University’s various directorates and Prime Touch consultant at the University’s headquarters, Abuja.
Professor Jokthan expressed that the establishment of the NOUN-ACETEL Data Centre was a significant step towards enhancing NOUN’s data management capabilities.
She explained that by centralising data management processes and implementing a harmonized information, the data centre will facilitate seamless integration and improve accessibility to information for all stakeholders across NOUN formations nationwide.
She said that as the physical structure of the data centre was fully completed the institution expected that the consultant would begin speedy work to install all hardware and software, including all infrastructures necessary for the seamless management of data.
She stated that the data centre was aimed at managing data efficiently from various directorates within the University and all its formations nationwide.
“This includes data from study centres, ensuring comprehensive coverage and accessibility, said Professor Jokthan.
the don disclosed that the consultant had been invited to have an interface and first-hand understanding with representatives of various directorates, and also allow all stakeholders to make their input on the design and functionality of the data centre.
