The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has shown its tremendous preparedness by training 2400 registered proctors nationwide who will enhance the integrity of the forthcoming Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) scheduled for April 14, 2024.
The training, which was conducted virtually was held simultaneously in three batches across the six geo-political zones in Nigeria.
It took place at JAMB’s virtual studio National Headquarters Abuja where the proctors were urged to see the exercise as their contribution to national development.
JAMB Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, stated that proctors were important to enhance integrity and success of the examination, regarding their direct contact with candidates in the examination hall.
He stressed the need for a high level of professionalism and uprightness on the part of the trained proctors while exercising their duties.
Professor Oloyede pointed out that they would need to be above board and represent the institutions that recommended them well, as failure to fulfill their responsibility as expected will not only tarnish their image, or affect the examination, but also reflect poorly on their institutions.
He said the training was organized to familiarize the proctors with their duties and responsibilities during the conduct of the UTME.
Responding, the Chairman of Chief External Examiners ( CEE) Professor Vincent A. Tenebe, remarked that the training had exposed the participants to innovations put in place by the Board to ensure the success of 2024 UTME.
