The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) is determined to conduct a hitch-free supplementary Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
According to the latest bulletin of the Board, the Registrar of JAMB, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, made this known at a virtual meeting held with computer-based test centres scheduled to conduct the upcoming supplementary exam.
JAMB stated that a total of 24,535 candidates would sit for the exam, which will take place between Friday, June 21, and Saturday, June 22, 2024.
The candidates will sit for the rescheduled UTME exam in 18 centres across Akwa Ibom, Delta, Edo, and Kwara States.
Professor Oloyede warned the CBT centres to be wary of the pitfalls that led to the cancellation of the 2024 UTME in some centres.
He expressed disappointment at the level of compromise and substantial non-compliance with laid-down rules and regulations witnessed at those centres, warning that JAMB will not tolerate anything that negatively impacts its image.
He advised all centres not to tolerate any infractions that could undermine the examination, thereby warranting sanctions from the Board.
He disclosed that the decision to reschedule the examination was prompted by JAMB’s compassion for innocent candidates who might not be guilty of the allegations, so as not to punish them unjustly.
