The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has issued several warnings, instructions, and guidelines for the conduct of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) that will come up between Friday, April 19, and Monday 29, 2024.
JAMB warned that candidates who arrive 30 minutes late to the venue of the examination would be prevented from sitting for the examination and that such candidates would be marked absent.
According to the Spokesperson of the Board, Dr Fabian Benjamin, in JAMB’s weekly bulletin, the examination body will not tolerate any examination infraction and other unwholesome practices that could be detrimental to the conduct of the exam.
The Board warned candidates not to bring prohibited items around the examination centres.
Some of the items not allowed within the premises of the examination hall by the Board are smart watches, smart lenses (unprescribed glasses), calculators, smart rings, smart pens, Bluetooth devices, flash drives, and many others.
Dr Benjamin explained, “These items have been noted to have aided some dishonest candidates in their quest to perpetrate examination malpractices hence, the ban on these items to protect the integrity of the Board’s examination.
Candidates are also warned to desist from the use of decorative designs or tattoos on their palms as these can impact their biometric screening at the centre.
JAMB warned the parents of the candidates not to come around examination premises, “Any candidate found with a parent in the examination vicinity will face penalties.
In a bid to ensure the success of the exercise, JAMB advised all candidates to ensure they print their notification slip before the commencement of the examination.
Candidates are enjoined to adhere strictly to the etiquette and guidelines of the examination as stipulated in their notification slips and to be at the venue of their examination at the scheduled time to enable them to go through their biometric verification before the admittance into the examination hall.
