To improve teaching and research for the overall development of its students and staff, Achiever University, Owo, Ondo State, is set to commission five green and one screen houses for teaching, research and service delivery tomorrow, May 23. This is contained in a letter signed by the Acting Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Omolola Irinoye.
Professor Irinoye added that other activities set to come up on the day are the foundation laying of the Farm House, Inauguration of the Centre for Agricultural Development, and Innovation and Food Security- Research Group.
According Professor Irinoye, the highpoint of the event tomorrow will be annual public lecture for 2022/2023 academic session.
The annual public lecture will be delivered by the Honourable Commissioner for Agriculture, Ogun State, Dr Samson Adeola Odedina, who will speak on Agricultural Development and Food Security in the 21st Century Nigeria: Challenges and Prospects.
Professor Irinoye expressed that the lecture is prompted by the efforts to mobilise stakeholders to brainstorm on both critical national and international issues of importance that can drive active intervention to advance academic development and improve the society.
Of the guest lecturer, Professor Irinoye extolled his virtue, saying he has been a seasoned academic, astute researcher and practical agriculturist, this which informed the decision of the institution to choose him as the year’s guest lecturer.
