In fewer than two weeks that a Yoruba Nollywood actress (Iyabo Oko) died, another Nollywood actress, this time in Igbo Nollywood movie industry, Cynthia Okereke has been announced dead.
The announcement was made on Wednesday in an Instagram post by a popular actor and filmmaker Joseph Okechukwu that, the veteran actress died on Tuesday evening.
Joseph said he was about paying for the flight ticket of the actress when she gave up the ghost:
He wrote: REST IN PEACE, Nwanyi oma. I am shattered beyond words. The fact that I was about to pay for your flight ticket to come and finish what we started only to hear you went to be with the Lord just last night is one of the toughest things I’ve had to deal with in recent times.
“I pray I am able to recover from the shock. Life is really just a mist. One minute you have it, the next you don’t. For more than 20 years that I have known you, you ‘ve been such an amazing, decent and lovely soul to be around. Word fail me. May your gentle soul rest on till we meet again in glory. #CynthiaOkereke.
Cynthia Okereke was a veteren in the movie industry in Nigeria who gave her all to the profession she chose.
She was kidnapped in December last year in Enugu alongside her fellow actor Clemson Cornel but, later regained their freedom after days in custody of their abductors.
Cynthia participated in many movies including Osuofia in London 1 and 2, A Fool at 49, Reggae Boys, Nwando, The God to Serve, Wisdom of Gods and host of others.
