The veteran Nigerian actor, Richard Eyimofe Damijo, known as RMD, has disclosed how the fear of clocking 60 years of age gripped him during COVID-19 pandemic.
RMD wrote on his Instagram page about the fear that none of his parents lived to be 60; hence crossing from 59 to 60 was impending.
According to him that COVID-19 was raging, and that the deadly disease wasn’t nice to folks over 50 years and above made it more scary.
“COVID-19 kicked in. I kept hearing of the danger for folks over 50. I was 59…I kept saying to myself it wasn’t going to get me. None of my parents lived to be 60,” he disclosed.
“The whole COVID thing was already looking like a universal conspiracy against me and my desire to cross the 60 year mark,” he narrated.
However, he spoke further on shedding some weight, staying healthy and fit as impressed upon him by Editi Effiong, the producer of ‘The Black Book.’
RMD expressed it was Nicole her daughter that demanded of him to meet her friend who wanted RMD in his movie.
The superstar actor narrated how he agreed to look fitter for the sake of the movie.
“…but I look down at me and I knew…was precisely 120kg…I confess that it was when I started training that I knew this wasn’t for just the film but my own life,” he explained.
“The weight came off finally, and I found the character I was looking for…from doing 10kg dumbbells to 50kg or so. Uzi threw in some boxing too and before long I was ready. I could jump, fight, run, etc,” said RMD.
The Delta born Nigerian actor, writer, producer, lawyer and former journalist, born in July 6, 1961, has since clocked 62 years.
