How Passion Pushed Rita Dominic into Acting

Nollywood thespian, Rita Uchenna Nkem Nwaturuocha Dominic aka Rita Dominic has expressed how passion drove her into acting.

Chatting with Joy 99.7 FM recently,¹ the veteran Nollywood actress disclosed that when she joined Nollywood, acting was not money spinning for actors and actresses unlike what obtains at present.

She stated that it was passion that fueled herpppp₩ĺp0 venturing into the art, adding she just wanted to be an actress.

Dominic added that acting was challenging, but that they remained dogged until the industry got bigger which made earnings much better.

Speaking about her first remuneration, she recalled, “The first film I did, the filmmaker paid me N35,000. But he owed me N25,000 for many months. In fact, he didn’t even pay me the balance. He paid me only N10,000.

She won several awards among which was Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role in 2012.

Dominic married Daily Times publisher, Fidelis Anosike, on November 2022 in England, the ceremony was witnessed by her colleagues, Kate Henshaw, Chioma Chukwuka and others after observing their traditional wedding in Imo, Dominic’s State.
