Lagos State University, Ojo has punctured the allegation of attack said to be recorded during Poco Lee’s Homecoming Concert held at the Buba Marwa Auditorium of the University recently.
According to a release issued by the Coordinator Centre for Information and Public Relations, Thomas Onishile Oluwayemisi, the University expressed its deep regret at the way the social media blew the pockets of attacks said to be recorded during the event out of proportion.
It condemned what it described as unfortunate incident which came up during the event, observing that the narrative was twisted by malicious and ignorant individuals,
“which warrants that we provide the correct perspective.”
“For records we wish to debunk claims of physical attacks on either the artists who came to perform or students by cultists being spread about…on no point was Bella Shmurda or Poco Lee or any other artiste attacked… Bella himself has validated this on his social media channels.”
But the Institution admitted, “there were pockets of squabbles among revelers to be expected in such a show,” adding, “report of cult clashes were nothing but fallacies.”
“We also wish to state for the records that uproar that greated the event towards its tail end was caused largely by reaction of excited students at having one of their own perform live for them on their campus. This is coupled with the issue of crowd control resulting from poor logistic and planning by the organizers, an independent entertainment outfit.”
LASU noted that the crowd of students at the venue was beyond the provision of tickets made by the organizers, making LASU Security Team with other security agencies who were invited before the show, to rise up to the occasion.
According to LASU, because some criminal elements were going to cash in on the occasion to cause crisis, LASU Security Team brought the show to an abrupt end…saying “no single record of cult attack as being purported.”
It therefore expressed that LASU at the present time is being celebrated both at the national and international levels, and that it has zero tolerance for cultism which is why there have been no reports of incidents of cult activities in the institution for several years.
