Surprise at Unilorin Lakeside Resort
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Wahab Egbewole, SAN, recently stopped by the UNILORIN Lakeside Resort and ran into some students enjoying their well-deserved break after first semester examinations.
It has been a hectic and clumsy period of first-semester examinations for the students.
Seeing the VC at the Lakeside Resort is a thing of surprise and joy for them.
They, of course, couldn’t resist the opportunity for a photo with the VC, and Prof. Egbewole obliged them by posing for a photograph with them to add to the happiness of the students.
This may be the necessary tonic they need to kick start their second semester this April.
Rejected Stone at UI
Tunde Adelegan was rejected at the University of Ibadan (UI) where he had applied for Medicine and Surgery. In the 2021 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), he scored an outstanding mark of 302, but he was not offered admission.
In 2021, candidates who sat for UI Post-UTME, including Adelegan, recorded mass failure due to the introduction of the computer-based test (CBT). It was clear he could get admission into any other university that year upon scoring a high mark.
However, in the subsequent UTME, he was wiser. He changed his school, applying to Ekiti State University (EKSU) and the University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED).
This time around he scored 310.
He obtained the post-UTME at both universities and got admitted into both schools. His rejected stone at UI has become the chief cornerstone in EKSU and UNIMED.
Adelegan’s lesson is that since the curriculum of medicine is the same in all universities, and that Medicine practice is being regulated by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN), why waste time sticking to one university when medical students anywhere in Nigeria through the same study?
So why not apply for Medicine in other approved schools, other than eyebrow universities where you may not be considered for admission because of cutthroat competition, even if you are qualified?
Adelegan is happy that he has proved himself worthy in the eyes of those who thought nothing good could come from his Nazareth.
Tiwa Savage, Simi on New Song
When the two Nigerian sonorous voices collaborate on a song, it will be superlative.
The collaboration, which has never happened before between the two, except when they appeared on a song together when L.A.X featured them, will be a superb teamwork between the Queen of Afrobeats, Tiwa Savage, and Simisola Bolatito Kosoko aka Simi.
It was Tiwa who dropped a hint about the project on her Instagram page saying, “…my sis @symplysimi got one crazy record ft ABG this Friday 5/4/2024.
Both divas are accomplished singers, songwriters, and skillful vocalists who have made tremendous impact in the Nigerian music industry and the world.
The world awaits the melodic harmony of the new song from the two high priestesses of Afrobeats.
