Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has stated that his administration would re-introduce the study of History as a subject in the basic education curriculum in schools in the state.
Governor Kefas gave this hint during a media parley with journalists on Sunday, saying History would be re-introduced to lay a solid foundation for accelerated development.
Speaking further, he stated the readiness of the State to phase out the National Certificate of Education (NCE), saying the era of making NCE the minimum academic qualification would soon be over.
He added that primary school teachers must be first-degree holders while secondary school teachers must have a minimum master’s degree to enhance quality education in the state.
“This is the main reason we have slashed the school fees for undergraduates in the university,” he said.
Governor Kefas expressed, “We must secure a good future for our children. Our free education policy is not a joke and anybody who stands on the way to achieving this will be crushed.”
