The 65th Grammy Awards took place on Sunday, February 5, 2023, and Nigerian international music sensation Temilade Openiyi also known as Tems won her first Grammy award for her part on Future’s hit single ‘Wait For U’. The single won the award for the Best Melodic Rap performance at the 2023 Grammy awards at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
Tems, by this recognition has joined the list of other Nigerians who have won the award. The Afrobeats singer has added this to her list of accomplishments following her Africa Future awards win and her Oscar nomination.
The Award ceremony saw the flock of most of the greatest artistes in the world in attendance.

Nigerians that have won the coveted awards include Sade Adu, who won the Grammy for ‘Best new artist in 1986; Cynthia Erivo, who bagged ‘Best theatre Album’ in 2017.Other recipients areBabatunde Olatunji, featured artist1991; Sikiru Adepoju,Best Contemporary World Music 2009;Burna Boy, Best World Music Album 2021 and Wizkid, Best Music Video 2021.
