President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has condoled the family of Kannywood actress, Saratu Gidado, who died recently, describing the death of the actress as saddening not only to those mourning but also to the nation, which she honoured through her talent as thespian.
This, was contained in a release signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Chief Ajuri Ngelale.

Just a few days after the actress’s demise, the Nigerian movie industry was hit by another disheartening news of a well-known actor, Mr. John Paul Odonwodo aka Junior Pope.
The report said that Odonwodo and four others encountered their death at the waterside of River Niger Cable Point at Asaba on a movie set entitled ‘The Other Side of Life’ produced by Adama Luke.
Rumour began to make the rounds that Odonwodo survived the boat mishap, but only to learn that he died later in the hospital.

However, the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), while confirming the death of the actor, in a release signed by its National President, Emeka Rollas, has suspended indefinitely all films that involve riverine areas and boat riding.
AGN also suspended the shooting of the film ‘The Other Side of Life,’ and banned actors with Luke as a producer till further notice.
It could be recalled that Nollywood lost an actress, Jumoke Aderonmu, recently, and two other actors, John Okafor aka Mr Ibu, and Sisi Quadry, both comic actors.
