Two staff members of the University of Ibadan, Deborah Adeyemo of the Faculty of Law and Femi Balogun of Faculty of Environment Design and Management have won the 2023 ARUA (African Research Universities Alliance) Early-Career Researchers Initiative- Phase III Award.
Out of 130 applications that were received, only 10 were chosen among which are the two candidates from the University of Ibadan.
Both Ms Adeyemo and Mr Balogun will be doing their research in the ARUA Centres of Excellence; Post -Conflict Societies in the Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia and Urbanization and Habitable Cities of University of Lagos, respectively.
The University of Ibadan, UI, was established in 1948 as the first University in Nigeria. The university became a full-fledged independent University in 1962 and ceased to be a College of the University of London in a special relationship scheme. The University, which took off with academic programmes in Arts, Science, Medicine and many others is now a comprehensive citadel of learning with academic programmes across different fields of endeavours.
The citadel of learning prides itself to be a world-class institution for academic excellence geared towards meeting societal needs, and to expand the frontiers of knowledge through provision of excellent conditions for learning and research.
