The Management of the University of Maiduguri, Borno State has urged the staff and students of the University to remain calm and go about their normal and legitimate business regarding the murder of a senior lecturer in the Department of Physical and Health Education, Dr Abdulkadir Kamar. This was contained in a release signed by the Director of Radio and Public Relations, Professor Danjuma Gambo on behalf of the Vice Chancellor of the University.
Professor Gambo said the attention of the University had been drawn to numerous reports, rumours, and misrepresentations, especially on social media, regarding the recent, painful demise of Dr Kamar.

The release said further that the Management of the University received a report on Monday, April 1, 2024, that Kamar’s lifeless body was sighted in his office, following an alarm raised by members of his family.
The Management informed that the police and other security agencies had already launched an investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding his death.
Meanwhile, eight suspects have been arrested by the Borno State Police Command over the tragic death of the lecturer.
The Spokesperson of Borno State Police Command, ASP Daso Kenneth, said the eight suspects had been taken into custody and were currently undergoing investigations to discover the individuals responsible for the reprehensible act.
He disclosed that the Command was alerted of the murder of the late Kamar who was found brutally murdered in his office on Sunday, March 31, with his vehicle and other valuables taken away by the perpetrators.
A source hinted to security expert, Zagazola Makama, that Dr Kamar was tragically murdered by unidentified persons who stormed his office, stabbing him with a knife, and slamming him with a hammer countless times.
The source added that he was later found dead in the pool of his blood with several injuries on his body, having his hands peeled off when he attempted to defend himself from being hit by the hammer.
According to the source, the attackers also used the hammer to smash his head and spinal cord, resulting in his death immediately.
