Two students pursuing Medicine and Surgery at the Osun State University’s College of Health Sciences have recently been granted scholarships totaling N940,812 by the West African Gas Pipeline Company Limited (WAPCo). This scholarship is part of WAPCo’s annual programme for the 2023/2024 academic session, aimed at recognizing and supporting outstanding students.
In an official statement released by the University’s Public Relations Officer, Ademola Adesoji, it was disclosed that Akande Omowunmi Oluwadamilare and Efuwape Adedayo Seseyon, both enrolled in the Department of Medicine and Surgery, have individually received scholarships worth N470,400 from WAPCo.
Dr. Isaac Adjei Doku, the General Manager of Corporate Affairs at WAPCO, highlighted that the selection of Akande Omowunmi Oluwadamilare and Efuwape Adedayo Seseyon was based on their exceptional academic achievements. The scholarship fund is intended to cover a range of educational expenses, including tuition fees, books, and other associated costs related to their studies, according to Dr. Doku.
Expressing gratitude on behalf of the university community, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor ‘Ayo Clement Adebooye, extended heartfelt appreciation to WAPCo for their generous support. Professor Adebooye also congratulated the deserving recipients, emphasizing that such recognition reinforces the university’s dedication to promoting academic excellence.
Furthermore, Professor Adebooye underscored the importance of acknowledging and rewarding academic prowess, stating that it acts as a catalyst for inspiring students to excel in their respective careers. He reiterated the university’s unwavering commitment to cultivating a culture that fosters continuous learning and achievement.
