When the Osun State University’s server was hacked overnight yesterday, things were no longer at ease, as it was a tough battle bringing the situation under control.
The Public Relations Officer of Osun State University, Ademola Adesoji, disclosed this in a release, saying it was the handiwork of unknown criminals who were attempting to disrupt the teachers’ recruitment test.
According to Adesoji, the institution responded technically and frustrated the attempt to breach its core software and question bank.
The criminals’ attempt caused significant damage to the server, which took a lot of time to restore, thereby delaying the process of the test, and resulting in disorganizing the tests of two centers.
Examinations were conducted in 11 out of 13 locations, however, the examinations of both Osogbo and Ikire centers, which proved difficult, have been postponed based on the decision of the Ministry.
Those behind the hacking of the server, in the words of Adesoji, might be those who were opposed to the recruitment process.
Ademola noted that a similar incident occurred during the conduct of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board examinations.
