Nigerian Afropop singer, Yemi Alade, has hinted that her first hit song ‘Johnny,’ was not released officially.
She disclosed this in a media interview, expressing the hit song got leaked, saying, “Yes, I felt it. I never thought it was a song that leaked; I didn’t release it officially.”
Alade added, “…It would never have been officially released. God finds a way to move people and things around.”
Speaking about the cover picture of the song, she said, “If you find the picture, it’s a picture of me with some blond weave.”
‘Johnny’ gained remarkable recognition when it was released, becoming a big song in Nigeria, Tanzania, Kenya, Zambia, Ghana, South Africa, Liberia, Uganda, Zimbabwe, United Kingdom among others.
Recall that Alade recently put up a stellar performance at the opening ceremony of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) ongoing in Cote d’Ivoire.
Spectators were held spellbound by Alade at the 60,000-capacity Stade Olympique Alassane Ouattara in Abidjan during the exhilarating opening ceremony, which also featured other singers and the rich African culture.
