A total of 182 students earned First Class honours at Ahmadu Bello University Zaria during its 43rd Convocation Ceremony on Saturday January, 27.
During the occasion, 3,902 students obtained Second Class Upper Division, as a total of 5,167 bagged Master’s degrees, while 647 students got Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees.
A total of 25,432 students graduated during the ceremony, as 11,552 earned Second Class Lower Division, while 2, 692 recorded Third Class degrees.
20 students obtained Pass degrees, while 275 belonged to the unclassified degrees from the College of Medical Sciences, as well as the faculties of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Veterinary Medicine.
The University also graduated 6,809 postgraduate students, out of which 647 earned PhDs, 5,167 Masters, 40 MPhil, and 955 Postgraduate Diplomas.
Some distinguished Nigerians were also awarded honorary degrees, as the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kibiru Bala, emphasised that the University’s honorary degrees were only awarded to highly distinguished personalities who have made significant contributions to the advancement of humanity.
The VC used the occasion to inform the guests, members of the public, and the University community of the remarkable achievements recorded by the Institution since the last convocation which took place on January 28, 2023.
