The Lagos State University, Ojo, has got another international recognition, as it has been approved by the Brazilian Government as one of the Centres of Excellence for the conduct of CELPEBRAS Examination.
With this approval, all West African students, except from Guinea Bissau, will be converging at LASU to sit for CELPEBRAS Examination.
The licence to conduct the examination was secured through the Centre of Afrobrazilian Studies of the institution of which final approval dated December 21, 2021 was as a result of the successful training for experts between December 13 and 15, 2023 from six universities in six countries which included Poland, Germany, United Kindom, Nigeria, France and Russia.
LASU was represented at the training by Director of the Centre for Afrobrazilian Studies, Professor Tayo Ajayi.
LASU Centre for Afrobrazilian Studies has since been conducting training for students on CELPEBRAS which is conducted in April and October of every year.
CELPEBRAS, which is the proficiency course in Portuguese for foreigners, is a major requirement for those seeking to study in Brazil.
Hundreds of scholarships are given to foreign students each year by the Brazilian Government, both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in any course of their choice.
