The authority of the University of Calabar will hold its 35th/36th convocation ceremony beginning from May 1, 2023.
In a circular signed by Gabriel O. Egbe, the Registrar of the university, the ceremony which is for graduates up to between and including the 2019/2020 & 2020/2022 academic session is a week-long programme.
The event starts on May 1, where the Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Florence Banku, will address a press conference at the Council Chamber by 10:00am.
On Tuesday May 2, the event proceeds with the inter-denominational service at Unical International Conference Centre by 10:00am.
Academic gowns are to be obtained from faculty officers of relevant faculties on the payment and deposit of N4,000.00 while a refund of N1,000.00 will be made on returning the gowns, as gowns not returned by May 12, 2023 will attract a fine of N10,000.00 per day.
For graduands of Post Graduate School who wish to purchase academic gowns, each Ph.D gown goes for N59,500.00, Master gowns for N30,000.00, while Master/PGDs gown sells for N20,000.00.
All gowns hired from the graduate school must be returned within seven days from the day of convocation, as students are allowed to invite only two guests, while prizes and awards shall be announced during convocation. Graduates who do not robe will not be allowed at the procession.
