Students of the Covenant University have advocated that businesses should enhance sustainable practices that would contribute to the well-being of the environment and avail students to work in like manner in a bid to preserving the earth and ecosystem of the environment.
This call came as the students celebrated World Earth Day 2023 when the Student Council played host to the first Campus-wide planting exercise under the theme, “Invest in our Planet,” in line with the United Nations Organizations (UNO) Sustainable Development Goal 11, 13, 15 and 17.
The event saw student environmentalists troop out to plant flowers and trees at strategic points on the university campus and its environment.
The World Earth Day 2023 celebration attracted partnership from Non Governmental Organisations (NGOs) on campus such as Enactus, the world’s largest experiential learning platform and Donate Drive, where student entrepreneurs had the opportunity to engage in partnership.
The UN had set aside April 22 every year to commemorate International Mother Earth Day to remind the world how crucial it is to safeguard the natural resources, lower the impact on the environment and maintain the delicate equilibrium of ecosystem.
Caring is sharing.
