A delegation from the Committee of Deans of Engineering and Technology (CODET) recently visited Covenant University to strengthen ties between the two institutions before their upcoming biannual meeting.
Led by Professor David Olukanni, the Secretary of CODET and Dean of Engineering at Covenant University, the delegation expressed enthusiasm for the growing relationship between the two parties.
During the visit, Professor Nurudeen A. Rajia, the Chairman of CODET, praised Covenant University’s commitment to maintaining high academic standards in engineering education across Nigerian universities. He also announced that CODET has become a member of the Washington Accord, enabling Nigerian graduates to practice engineering worldwide without further examination.
Professor Nurudeen commended Covenant University’s Engineering department for its leadership in implementing Outcome Based Education (OBE) and thanked Vice-Chancellor Professor Abiodun Adebayo and the management team for their dedication to student success.
Engr. (Prof) James Eke, the immediate past chairman of CODET, emphasized the importance of practical engineering skills and praised Covenant University for excelling in the project competition, an initiative aimed at promoting practical engineering education.
In response, Vice-Chancellor Professor Abiodun H. Adebayo expressed gratitude for CODET’s recognition and support. He highlighted Covenant University’s engineering programs’ consistent top rankings in the Times Higher Education rankings and thanked CODET for choosing Covenant University to host the upcoming biannual meeting.
The delegation included the Vice-Chairman of CODET, Engr. Professor Rowland Azike; PRO CODET, Engr. (Prof) Zekieni R. Yelebe; Engr. (Prof.) Michael C. Ndinechi; Iror Aondowake; and Mohammad Kolo. Also present were Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Olujide Adekeye, Registrar Mrs. Regina Tobi-David, and other members of Covenant University Management.
