Professor Aderonke Bayeroju, Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, has advised the newly elected Students’ Union Executive Committee members of the Students Representative Council of the University to consult and embrace peace while tackling issues.
She gave this advice while representing the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Kayode Adebowale when the management of the institution conducted a retreat for students’ leaders that also comprised the faculty leaders and leaders in the Halls of Residence.
The don advised that everything should not be about confrontation, protest, and conflicts, but enjoined them to consult and bring matters to the table for peaceful resolution.
Professor Bayeroju added that leadership was a huge responsibility that should not be taken with levity, advising the students’ representative to ensure a peaceful administration of their mandates by exhibiting maturity and purposeful student unionism.
She also advised the students to balance unionism and academic excellence during a retreat where several papers were delivered.
Meanwhile, the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected Students’ Union officers will come up on Monday, May 13, 2024.
